It’s been a really busy few weeks at The Buckie Pottery Company. After a positive start in February with lots of people popping in to say hello, to paint something fabulous and, some who came to do a bit of clay modelling. We have also hosted quite a few parties where a fabulous time was had by all who came. Everyone made a lovely keepsake to remember the day!
We are all settled into our little shop, and despite a few teething problems (the big kiln decided it needed a new thermocouple) all is now on track and we are gearing up for the Easter break. I can’t believe it’s nearly April already!!!!
Here are a few of the lovely things that have been made in the last few weeks. I love that yarn bowl!
In other news, we are now selling gift vouchers which can be purchased from our shop in Buckie. You can choose any amount and they can be redeemed against any of our fair-trade products, any pottery session or against pottery painting.
The Buckie Pottery Company offers a healthy alternative to chocolate eggs for the kids this Easter!
Over the Easter holidays we will be open as usual from Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm. Pottery painting is available every day. Prices vary from £8 through to just over £20 with a large range under about £15. The price includes all glazes, kiln firing, an apron and tea/coffee/juice whilst you work. We are on hand to offer advice if you need it.
Each Tuesday and Thursday over the Easter fortnight, we are offering Clay Play sessions where children and adults will have the opportunity to try their hand at real pottery. The sessions will last about one and a half hours and include a drink, apron and all materials. Tuesdays are pinch pot animals, hedgehog, owl, elephant, take your pick! Thursdays we will be making tiles which will be printed with ‘found’ items… e.g. fir-cone, shells, pebbles or, anything that can make a pattern on your tile. (I have lots of stamps and cutters available too). For both projects, you will be able to design your own piece and add colour to your creation on the day. Places are limited so please book in advance.
I have been working hard on an order of bespoke, clocks and spoons, much of it is drying out ready for bisque firing, lots still to be completed though. I make my own decorative ceramics under the name T-KU Ceramika and can make individual pieces to order. From framed tiles, to clocks, soap dishes, ceramic ‘Love Spoons’ etc. I am happy to work with you on a specific design.
Bye for now,
